Empowering Law Enforcement to Prevent Substance Abuse Among Youth: Encouraging a Drug-Free Future

Contact Us

As a law enforcement professional you understand the correlation between drug abuse and crime better than most in our society. But how do you prevent people, especially our young people, from using drugs in the first place?
That’s where we can help.
We will arm you with the exact program to educate youth on the adverse effects of drugs before they start. No hype, no scare tactics, no preaching—just factual information to enable them to make the correct decisions regarding drugs.
Here is what law enforcement officials have to say about the program:

“The videos were a valuable addition to the drug lessons. The students now understand how drugs can ruin the lives of people from similar backgrounds to theirs. I’ve found that the stories of the individuals highlighted in the videos was more credible than me telling the students about someone whose life was ruined by drug use or how sick one could get after using the drug. After the first class using the videos I asked the students if they preferred a lecture or the videos…they were very excited to hear that they would be watching similar videos for the duration of the drug lectures.”

Give them the truth about drugs and they will listen. It has been conclusively found that when young people are given the facts about drugs and their harmful effects, they decide on their own not to take them. So, how do you educate them before a dealer gets to them?
That’s where we can help.

Empowering Educators with Fresh Approaches to Tackle Substance Abuse

As an educator you want to help youth stay clear of drugs and you know you need to reach them before the dealers do. While time and resources for effective drug education are sometimes lacking, and the materials used are often outdated, not to mention that they don’t speak factually to kids, we can help.

“I loved the program and how everything was well organized. The lessons were well planned and there were a variety of resources that could be used with each lesson. The booklets were extremely well done!! …They [students] were blown away with the stories that addicts shared in the booklets. It gave them a good picture of the actual consequences of drug use. Some of them were able to open up about their parents’ drug use. I am amazed that there is such a program out there that is FREE and so informative. It’s all there!!!”

The Truth About Drugs Educators Guide provides the practical tools to educate young people about substance abuse.

No one questions the severity of the drug problem and its devastating impact on youth. Academic results suffer and, even worse, drugs undermine health and destroy young lives.

The best solution is to reach young people with effective, fact-based drug education—before they start on drugs. Tweens, teens and young adults who know the facts about drugs are much less likely to start using them.

Drawing on government reports and official studies, the Foundation for a Drug-Free World's research-based educational materials are specifically oriented to young people. The Foundation's program includes 13 booklets on the most widely abused substances. These publications have been augmented by The Truth About Drugs documentary and the They Said/They Lied public service announcements. All told, more than 50 million educational handouts have been distributed in over 125 countries and more than 20 languages.

This Educator's Guide fills the growing demand for a practical manual to help educators communicate the truth about drugs swiftly and effectively. It provides lessons, assignments and classroom activities that elicit student participation. The Guide contains tools that capture and retain young people's attention. Students willingly read, view and, most importantly, use these tools to make right choices about drug use.

Hardly a teacher or parent exists who has not asked: What can I do to help keep kids off drugs? This Guide and accompanying teaching aids help answer that question to the maximum benefit of students.
